Episode 8 Common Car Repairs and Patten Failures
Happy Monday everyone. Today on the automotive podcast, we are talking about Common Car Repairs and Pattern Failures. This topic came in from Brain on YouTube.
As a dealer tech, this is really the world I live in. Not only do we see tons of broken VWs, we see the same VW problems over and over. Now, I pick on VW a little in this show. But that is simply because those are the cars I fix. Every car brand has the same type of issues, and we talk a little about how that happens today.

I have a 2012 CC Lux 2.0T with 43,000 miles. After driving home after work, came back out an hour later, tried to start car, it turned over then coughed a bit and stalled out. Immediately I thought there was an issue with the fuel line/pump or something. After the car sat for a bit, it did start. The next day I drove it to the dealer and left it. The dealer advised the car started with no problem and they were not experiencing problems with it. I asked that they keep it an additional day and continue to start drive it, because what happened with the car was definitely unusual, and my concern was I would be out somewhere and the car wouldn’t start, or if some of the horror stories I heard were correct, I’d be traveling down the highway and the car would just stall out while I’m traveling in 65 mph traffic. Well, the dealer agreed to keep the car an additional day, and reported they still were not experiencing any issues. I went to pick the car up, and it started fine. Before I left the dealerships area, however, about 30 minutes, later the EPC light came on. I took the car back to the service department and advised them of this occurrence. The next day I was advised that the High Pressure Fuel Pump would be changed and that it was under warranty so there would be no charge. I picked up my CC 4 days ago, and yesterday while idling, it stalled out again. I had the car towed to the closest VW dealer (not the original servicer), and and now being told that the fuel pump beneath the rear passenger side seat needs to be replaced at a cost of $1,200. Please help. What gives? Any advice you can provide will be greatly, greatly, greatly appreciated.
