My Experience at Automotive Tech School

As you know I went to Automotive tech school. I attended Universal Technical Institute in 2002. My experience at automotive tech school was great. If not for tech school I would never have become a mechanic, and wouldn’t be doing videos. A lot of you guys have asked me about my experience in tech school, so today we talk about what it was like for me, and what I had to do to attend mechanic school

Everything Wrong With The R32 ~ Problems and Walk Around

The newest car to the Humble Mechanic fleet is a mk4 R32. I love this 2004 3.2l VR6 R32. But this VW does have issues. Today I am going to show you many common MK4 issues, and some things we are going to do to repair them. Worn suspension, leaks, bad bushings, and broken plastic are just some of the issues the R32 has. Luckily for us, she is in good shape overall, but needs us to give her the love she deserves.

How To Fix Blend Doors ~ Install a Heater Core and Reseal The HVAC Box
How To Fix Blend Doors ~ Install a Heater Core and Reseal The HVAC Box

Blend door foam

If your MK3 or MK4 has no heat, no AC, or the controls don’t work, it may be due to the blend doors. From the factory the belt door is covered in foam to soften the door close, and divert air in the proper direction. Over time the foam breaks down and blows out the vents. Well it’s time to fix that. This is the most comprehensive guide to fixing blend doors out there.

Today I show you exactly how to disassemble the HVAC box, clean and recover all the doors, and reseal the box. All the products I used are listed below. There are plenty of other options out there,  but most of these items can be found easily online, or at your local Home Depot Motorsports.
