How VW Parts Fail ~ 2.5L Valve Cover with PCV Valve

How VW Parts Fail ~ 2.5L Valve Cover with PCV ValveOn this episode of “How VW Parts Fail” we are looking at the failure of the 2.5L PCV valve built in to the valve cover. This engine was the common engine in many VW cars. The Jetta, Rabbit, Jetta SportWagen, Beetle and Passat all came with the 2.5L engine. The valve failing could cause the check engine light to come on, as well as a rough idle. Today we are going to look at how it fails, as well as how to diagnose it.

Failing VW parts

vw POOR AIR CONDITIONINGToday we are back with more failed VW parts. We are right in the middle of a pretty hot summer. With a hot summer comes failing Air Conditioning. One of the most common things we are seeing fail is A/C compressors. We are doing several a week. The most common seem to be on 2.0t TDI (engine code CJAA) and 2.5 engines. It is not the only thing that I see cause poor air conditioning, but it is common.

Hey everyone. Today we are looking at more Failed Volkswagen Parts. This video is about how VW water pumps fail. We are specifically talking about the water pumps driven by a timing belt. I have done a video about how the CCTA water pumps fail, if you want to check that out. The timing belt driven water pumps were very common just a few years ago. There are also serpentine belt driven pumps that will fail in similar ways.

Hey everybody, today we are back with another round of failed VW parts! This time we are breaking down the engine coolant temperature sensor, or ECT. You may also see this part referred to as a C.T.S. (coolant temperature sensor). I have put so many ECTs on VWs that it’s crazy. I really enjoyed doing this video. If you have a part you would like me do to a video on, shoot me an email to Charles(at)humblemechanic(dot)com.

failed VW belts

Next up in our Failed VW Parts series we are looking at the serpentine belt tensioner. We are not looking at the failure of one specific serpentine belt tensioner. This applies to all belt tensioners, even on non-VW cars. This type of failure can be anything from somewhat annoying to leaving you stranded, and even cause catastrophic engine damage.

Failing Dual Mass Flywheel

The VW dual mass flywheel or DMF for short, was one of the first “How VW Parts Fail” videos that was suggested. I also happened to have a clip of what a failed DMF sounds like. DMFs are in several different VW models, including cars with a DSG transmission. While this is not an uncommon issue, I don’t see the failure rate that the internet makes it out to be. But since it is a VW Failed VW DMFpart that does fail, I wanted to do a video about it.
