Question
Whats up humble mechanic? My name is Brendan. A student mechanic about 1 year in but with 10 years prior military mechanical experience. Just got my work experience approved through ASE and awaiting to take my A1 A$ and A% exams next week. Today really sucked! I was installing a manual transaxle into a 1998 Honda Civic CX and my partner is a total Hack. He uses mky tools even though he has his own, BIG NONO! I have a big mouth yes I swear, hell Im an ex sailor, and most of the guys and gals in this shop swear like crazy, I mentioned it under my breath and my partner who has little to no exp, tells me he doesnt appreciate it and kicks me out from under the car! I told him to watch his mouth but decided that the best thing to do was lock my box up so he couldnt use my tools and tell my tech in charge it was time to call it a day. Did I do the right thing? Im the top student in the class and I may be the only student in three weeks to be ASE certified. I practically did that manual transaxle job by myself and my partner was mad because I didnt let him do much, maybe that could be whats wrong with him, hell Im 30 years old and Im liked by many, I just dont understand why this guy flew off the handle on me like that, but I assume that this happens to every mechanic now and then. Just curious thanks
I am an engineer, this site is really good and helpful, I like it. Thanks to humblemechanic.
