Great video once again Charles. As a GM Tech, I have to laugh about your first story about throwing the kitchen sink at a single DTC.
I’ve had the same scenario come into my bay a few times, and have resolved doing the simple (re-set fuel trims values, re-flash of PCM with updated software), to actually replacing the CAT’s. But, the cat’s were only done after ruling out a long list of other options and performing a back-pressure test.
Just comes down to the individual Tech, and how much they are focused on fixing the issue, verses pumping up their shop hours.

I’m in the automotive repair industry. I’m actually looking at blogs and podcast for the automotive repair industry to help people with car care explanation. Great explanation on diagnosis to help add value of a qualified technician. I have a thermometer and aspirin in my medicine cabinet but that doesn’t make me a doctor! Owning a code reader doesn’t make a person an automotive technician. People try and save money on the diagnosis and throw parts it. Sadly, so do some techs which ruin our industry. Good stuff on your blog. Keep it up!! Dean
