Brake Caliper Stiffening Kit ~ How To Install and How it Works

How to install Tyrol Brake stiffening kit on MK4 R32. This Brake Stiffening kit prevents the caliper flex inherent in the stock rubber design. This flex leads to uneven pad wear and rotor deposits under hard usage. One note after talking with Tyrol, this is not meant to change pedal feel. If you experience any change in pedal feel, that is an added bonus. The kit is very simply meant to apply more even brake pressure with less flex in the caliper.

This DIY is pretty straight froward and requires only some basic hand tools. I have listed some tools below if you find you are missing anything. Be sure to follow the rest of the R32 restoration and rehab.

Did the R32 Survive Tail of the Dragon?

Did the R32 Survive Tail of the Dragon?

For the last few years I have been talking about this event called Wookies in the Woods. It’s a driving event at “The Tail of the Dragon”, built around the Golf R and VW R32. There is so much great about this event. The people are amazing, the roads are a blast to drive, and it really stresses your car. While it’s not awesome to have something break, it’s a great excuse to make an upgrade 😉

I took my R32 out to see how she would perform. As you will see in the video, she did great. I did find one area where I can make some great improvements for the next modification. I also added two little goodies to it before leaving the mountains. You will have to watch the whole video to see. Be sure to follow the rest of the R32 restoration and rehab.

How To Replace MK4 Engine Mount (DogBone Mount) Bushings ~ R32 Restoration

How To Replace M4 Engine Mount (DogBone Mount) Bushings In this video I show you how to replace engine mount / motor mount bushings in the DogBone on a MK4 R32. The process is similar on all mk4 cars including Audi TT. These bushings are often replaced due to wear causing excessive engine movement. Replacing engine / motor mounts is an easy DIY car upgrade. Also I have not noticed any additional NVH in the car, other than a slight amount with the A/C on. This may or may not be due to the pendulum mount bushings as I am always concerned about the A/C compressor
