Like many found your shit while surfing the net and glad I did, while your site didn’t actually cure the issue I was having with a customers VW Jetttttaaaaaaa, it sure helped.
this may be of interest to you, I was chasing a P2293 and 171 507 and I think a 174 code on a 2006 Jetta GLI, I had replaced the ‘Low Pressure’ fuel pump and also the high pressure pump cam follower (that’s where you helped), BUT because I am a small business (just me) I cannot afford all the diagnostic equipment that Mr VW can, so I sent the customer to Mr VW to diagnose the problem, they assured her it was the Vacuum pump, so I purchased and fitted it and sent her on her way, oh shit phone call check engine light back on, when I checked the 2293 code had gone but not the others, why am I not surprised VW screwed a customer !!!
Going to RockAuto I purchased and ‘upgraded’ stethoscope which has a funnel on the end, with my new super duper tool I traced a leak on the PCV (yeah that plastic piece of shit on the intake manifold.
THE PROBLEM IS NOW CURED NO MORE CHECK ENGINE.
