Humble Mechanic Podcast Episode 1 Introduction

Humble Mechanic Logo

Hi everyone. Today I have something a little different for you all. As you know, I have been doing this blog for a little over 2 years. Things have been going really awesome. In that time, we have grown a great community here.  Over the last few weeks I have really been kicking around the idea of switching the format of the blog.

So today I give you the very first episode of the Humble Mechanic Podcast. This podcast will be about the same type of automotive things we talk about now, just in audio format.

As I said in the show, I really want your feedback. Is this something that you guys like? Once I get the hosting and RSS dialed in, I will be submitting the show to Itunes. I wanted to do a few episode just to see how it goes. That is why I am using SoundCloud. That is a temporary format.

Thank you all so much for listening. Again, PLEASE post your feedback in the comments below. Seriously, if you like it, hate it, think I should do a few more and see?

    For me it is easier to read a blog post than to listen to a podcast. Because when I usually read them it is late at night or when the kids are watching TV. On the other hand, it is pretty cool to be able to drive down the road while recording a podcast. A real time saver. Maybe a blend of both?

    I agree with Jeff, perhaps a blend of both. I don’t think it needs to be one or the other… but blog/text, audio, video, Facebook… whatever, I’ll keep listening and learning.

    I like the idea of switching up the format now and then. Definitely keep written articles, I think everybody else seems to agree with that as well. I think you have a great writing style, and I enjoy reading the posts. My only suggestion is maybe instead of just audio, you could try more video? I am a big fan of YouTubers like EricTheCarGuy and briansmobile1, and I really feel video is a great medium for expressing content, even if it’s just a shot of you driving home from work, talking to the camera. I find putting a face to the audio makes it easier to understand. Anyway, interested to see what direction you go. This is an awesome blog, always love reading it.

      @Ryan,
      Awesome feedback, thank you for that. Before I did that podcast, I wanted to do exactly what you said, record video driving home from work. I didn’t feel like the shaking of my iphone worked really well. I need to find a camera solution for that. I think that GoPro might be an option. Do you have any suggestions? Oh, and I love ETCG!

        I know of some on YouTube that do in car recording with their iPhone that looks pretty good (smurfinwrx is one), not sure what kind of mount they use. I have a relatively inexpensive Canon digital camera and a car mount from Amazon that works well. A GoPro sort of camera would probably be ideal though.
