best toolbox organization

Tool box organization is vital to a professional mechanic. To be successful, we have to work both smart and hard. Professional mechanics set their toolbox up in a way that promotes efficiency and cleanliness. Today I take you on a tour of my yellow box. You know, the one with all the stickers you have seen on the Podcast for so many years. This was a big step for me. I have done toolbox tour videos before, but nothing like this.

This looks like a real mechanic’s toolbox

buying the right engine oil

how to buy engine oilIt seems like buying engine oil can be a confusing process. Even if you take your car in to a shop for this service, they may have a ton of choices in engine oil. Today I am joined by Steffen from Liquimoly. I had the chance to meet Steffen at the AAPEX show 2016. His demo and explanation of oils, oil additives, and fuel treatments was incredible. I wanted to bring this oil information to you guys to help explain all those words on oil bottles.  You can buy most of Liquimoly line on Amazon.

VW atlas issues

VW NEW SUV ATLASThe last week I spent a few days learning about the new VW Atlas 3 row SUV. There is some new cool stuff, and some stuff I don’t love. I will be doing a drive event soon, and will post another video. This is the first VW new product class I have been to since the Tiguan. The first class I attended in Maryland was the Touareg class. Funny how much things have changed, and how very much they are the same. Either way going to training and learning a new product is usually a good time, and I always learn something.

How to check for current draw

https://youtu.be/lRcj1fQcWwUToday we are going to be learning how to perform a Parasitic Current Draw test or PID. Knowing the right way to do this test may not be vital, but it will save you a lot of headaches. Doing this test wrong can waste time, and that will waste money. You also don’t NEED a ton of high dollar special equipment to do this. While that equipment is nice to have, most of use don’t have it. So if you have a battery draw, here is the best way to help find it.

It may come as a surprise, but not all the tools mechanics use to fix cars come from the tool truck. Often both professional mechanics and DIYer have to be resourceful to fix cars. Today we look at 5 MORE odd things that mechanics use to fix cars. This video is a follow up I did to a video a few years ago. One of the cool things about that video is the comments. There were some great suggestions made. A few that I have adopted as well. I highly recommend you spend a few minutes and check them out.
