bad clock spring

Happy Tuesday everyone. Today we are taking a look at how VW clock springs fail. I actually did a video a LONG time ago about how clock springs work. Today, we take a deeper look at the failure of this part. The clock spring is the key to connecting the electronics in the steering wheel to the body of the car. Cars of today have much more to control on the steering wheel than just the horn. We need to have a part capable on handling that.

  • How does the clock spring fail?
  • Signs of clock spring failure
  • Diagnosing a bad clock spring
  • DIY or No DIY?

Purge Valve failure n80

Purge Valve failure n80Today we take a look at more failed VW parts. This is the show where we look at how VW parts work, how they fail, and ways we can diagnose failures. We are looking at the Evap Purge Valve also known as the N80 valve. Something I didn’t mention in the video is, the N80 valve is called that because VW uses N80 as the identifier for that valve. Every valve, motor, and module is identified in a similar way.

Auto Mechanic Time Lapse

Happy Wednesday everyone. Today we have a little mix of the automotive podcast, and Shop Shots. Many of you asked me to do a time lapse video of a day at the shop. So I hooked up the GoPro and gave it a try. I am really looking for your input on this video. Here is what I want to know:

  • Did you like it?
  • What would you change?
  • How was the speed?
  • Any other feedback

If you guys like this video, maybe I will do more from different angles. This was a pretty fun video to sit and edit. It gave me a look at how much time I spend waiting on things. As entertaining as it was, I will be using this to fine tune how I do things in the shop.
