Humble Mechanic Podcast Episode 2 Getting Started As A Mechanic

Published on October 28, 2013 under Podcast

Hey everyone. I hope that you had an awesome weekend. This is going to be a crazy week for me. I will be traveling to Nascar Technical Institute. We are doing a job fair to try and recruit some rookie technicians. This is something that should be a lot of fun for me. I really enjoy chatting with future techs.

Today’s podcast is a follow up to the first Humble Mechanic Podcast. In this episode, I talk about how I got started in the industry. If you are thinking about getting into the automotive industry, or know someone that is, give this show a listen.

If you have any questions or comments, please post them below. As I said above, I will be traveling this week. That will give me some time to record more shows.

    Hey Charles,

What would you say separates the good apprentices from the average to bad ones?

I’m thinking of becoming an aircraft technician which is basically the same skill set. So just wondering what you thought about this.

      @ Loue –
Working on autos requires a different skill set then working on aircraft. Trust me, I’ve done both (currently in aviation).

Being a good apprentice, however, is similar across all trades.

      Best of luck, brother.

That is a great topic. The short version is summed up in one word, ATTITUDE! Having a great attitude and a good work ethic is very important.. You are starting out at the bottom. Know that, and be willing to learn.

I will do a podcast about that topic. Stay tuned and good luck
